I live in Red Lake, Ontario, Canada and my family runs a float plane service, outposts and a lodge. This is more than a business; it is a life style. Every year, every season, every day brings something new. I try to blog about life our way.

Ice huts dot Red Lake and fishing is Fine
If the wind is up an ice hut is a welcome site, a gathering spot. When a fisherman parks his skidoo in front of a hut, it is an "OPEN" sign and he gets more visitors than a person would ever get at home!
Thanks for the ice fishing photos. What is the purpose of the tree branches sticking out of the snow? Brrr, Looks very cold. Have a wonderful Red Lake day. Jim Scholz
The ice hut has a little wood stove, very welcome especially in February. For now the branches are marking old fishing holes but will go in the fire when Gwyneth needs a quick warm up. thanks for checking the blog out! It has warmed up and there is lots of fishing going on.
Enid,

Actually, Mom, the branches are to tie a tarp to when the wind picks up, but nice guess.
