For many years Viking Outposts and Island flew with Green Airways. Jack and Bobby were always helping out their younger competitors, the Carlson Boys. When Hugh and Craig started out, Green Airways backed them up. When airplanes broke down they lent parts. When Hugh and Arthur didn't return from a fishing trip on time, they went looking. And on and on, they are the best neighbours, good boys working hard for a living.
Last week after watching his grandson, Ryan, play hockey, Bobby lay on the couch for a break ..... he didn't wake up. The family have had a private service at the Lutheran church and next summer they will have a memorial for Bobby when people can come from out of town to celebrate his life.
Bobby we will miss you.
We too will miss you Bobby.

It will most definately be different at the base without him.
ReplyDeleteI will forever remember his kindness, laughter and knowledgable advice.
I will never forget how he impacted and touched my life.
I was young and long of hair, he had little to say! I still treated him with respect, always stopping to shake his hand and say hello even after VOC took over flying. More than 30 years later we were good friends with plenty to talk about. I'll miss him!

I'm Very sad to hear that Bobby has flown
ReplyDeleteWest....
Bob was a great help to me when I started
flying commercially at Green Airways in
1975......I've stopped to talk with Bobby many
times over the years....I'll miss those
talks..
Hard to believe that Bobby is gone. He was a real gentleman and great mentor who I had the privilege of working with in 1976 and 1977. His advice and calm way of delivering it will always be appreciated.
